Aoyama, Yoshimasa (青山 剛昌)
or as he is well-known,
Gosho
Aoyama, was born in
Tottori
prefecture (near of
Kyoto, Japan) on June 21, 1963.
He practiced kendo for some years and was graduated from
Ikuei
high school, and then studied in the
Art
Department of Japan University. Later, when he finished
his university studies, he initiated the sketcher career and
soon after it obtained the prestigious prize
Shonen
Sunday given by
Shogakukan, for
his successful work
"Chotto Matte!"
(
Wait a minute!) released on that magazine, in 1986.
This last one, along with other short histories like
"4ban
Saado" (an autoconclusive story about baseball)
of the author were recopilated in the tankoubon called
"Aoyama
Gosho Kessaku Tanpenshû" (
Gosho Aoyama
Presents).
Aoyama gained fame and popularity with the manga of
"Magic
Kaito" (3 tankoubons and unfinished, where he
tells the story of
Kaito Kid, his favourite character
from all his series).

He affirm his success in 1988 with his work called
"Kenyuu
Densetsu Yaiba" (well known as
Yaiba,
and recopilated in 24 tankoubons). This last manga was adapted
into a television serie with a total of 51 episodes.
But without doubts, Aoyama reached the maximum point in his
carrer as mangaka in
1994, when he published
his most famous work that makes him known around the world,
a manga called
"Meitantei Conan"
(also known as
"Detective Conan",
and actually broadcasted in the
USA television
by
Cartoon Network with the name of
"Case
Closed").
"Meitantei Conan"
was and is the most important manga in his career, recopilated
in 51 tankoubons and still on-going.
Gosho Aoyama is a fanatical reader of mystery
novels, specialy those of
Sherlock Holmes.

Italy) and the baseball...
